i need to change one of my hard disk drive , can i replace it with this one ??note : picture A the original one (AVID) must replaced picture B the new one.
You must use Avid drive with Avid firmware.
Replacing an Avid drive with a non-Avid drive will not work.
Thanks in advance Mr Dori , one more thing this event error happens too many i don't know why ? can you please help me what does it mean ?
and is there a scheduled maintenance (daily , monthly , yearly) for avid ISIS 5000 ??
Seems to be related to duplicate network address. are you using DHCP or manual address?
have a look here for maintenence:
Just out of curiosity. Have you ever tried with an of the shelf Western Digital WD2003FYYS drive?
Isis 5000/5500 is the only system that actually uses the LSI hardware raid controller and I would expect that it does not check for any special Avid firmware.

Don't do it.
i have tested it on our lab system, it doesn't work.
ISIS will not use drives that don't have Avid firmware.
The LSI Raid controller 'maybe' don't care. but the ISIS software does care.
I t will fail during a rebuild with an error.
these pictures are from the log of our test system and also from the ISIS user guide that indicate that there is a special led flash will apper if you will install an unapproved disk.
Thanks for that screenshot. Good to know the drives are still Avid branded.
