Re: Let's Make the Next MediaMover or MDV

Thank You for sharing! Tried to run the script in linux, but got an error, here's the terminal output:

    xxx@xxx:~$ python PMR.py
      File "PMR.py", line 7
        <!DOCTYPE html>
        ^
    SyntaxError: invalid syntax

I think the problem lies with me, python is beyond my skills.

added reading MXF metadata from MXF files directly.
No more "Unmanaged" files in MXF folders.

    try it!

Nah...  Just copy the media folder to a Mac. Run the software there.   Sad

Or we could spend another decade trying to pesuade Avid product managers to negotiate a decent deal for the existing Mac version plus an additional fee to create a new PC version. Super Angry

Re: Let's Make the Next MediaMover or MDV

Asking for adding features to the Media Tool since the Media Mover times, when MC used to run on the Quadra Mac, and two MB RAM was plenty. Over twenty years have past.... Yes indeed, Avid should invest on MDV, most of the homework has already been done, it would be enough to embed it in the Media Tool, but there's no resources left after paying the wages of the six million dollar man and friends.

Is development on MDV suspended? There hasn't been an update since July 2017. Too bad, incredible app.

I will not speak for the developer, but it is pretty full featured now.  Maybe you need to say what you would like it to do.  He has been magically responsive in the past ....

I can. Be great if he could do a deal with Avid and have that functionality as part of Avid Media tool.

Re: Let's Make the Next MediaMover or MDV

I'll personnaly would like that MDV could copy, move project/medias automatically, based on a schedule

and also be able to maintain sync between 2 shared storage system
(for disaster recovery and/or move file from one nexis to an other )

But I guess there is a lot to work to do thatBig Smile

shame that Avid is no able to implement natively this kind of feature in Media Composer or ISIS/NEXISEmbarrassed

Re: Let's Make the Next MediaMover or MDV

To maintain sync between two folders/servers/etc you already have millions of solutions - the one of the first is the rsync utility.

Re: Let's Make the Next MediaMover or MDV

    Thank for your quick answer,

Yep we're currently using rsync t but I was thinking of an integrated tool / more friendly tool
that can be manipule by any average editor...(more like your MDV's tool Big Smile)
