Hello, I thought it it could be useful to start a thread about the bugs we noticed in Media Composer 7.0.2 and 7.0.3 since I could not find a thread like this.
Feel free to join.
Recreating titles seems to bypass the "use classic character mapping" option. We need to type in squaremeters with "m" and "superscript two". When we recreate these titles the superscript2 becomes an "v". When we enter the title tool and save the title in it the superscript2 becomes readable.
Title recreation and saving titles sometimes does not work. After pressing "save" or "recreate" nothing happens. We have then to open up a new Title tool and copy paste the text into it. (This seems to include mostly titles from older versions - 5.5.4 )
Titles which are arranged in an SD Project change positions and line spacing when switching to HD.
Batch Importing or normal Importing of files from a network drive takes much longer to proceed than it took in 5.5.4
When we get a sequence from 5.0.4 and open it in 7.0.2 sometimes the waveform on track 6 and 8 are not shown when activated. Match framing and reediting solves this.
Backround Processes (Database, Search, Background Services) make the workstations very laggy. (Z400, 12 GB Ram and better). Deactivating them helps a lot but not 100 percent. We are editing on a 100TB Editshare group with 39 MediaComposer. Maybe too much files to analyse????
Color Correction Mode is very laggy
Clicking in the timeline moves the playback cursor. Often it jumps a little right or left after the click. (The cursor timing is not accurate, if you know what i mean)
Sometimes (we did not find out if there is a rule) the whole Leveling or Panning of a track is resetted. From one second to the next.
Backround Transcoding does not work on network drives (I know this is announced to come).
no help i'm jumping in so when there is a fix posted i get a email
a lot on this is going on with stand alone systems also
"When Everybody goes Right I Go Left" I Move "Just" a little Different
When opening a 1080 50i project with Pan & Zoom from a version 6.5 SN project on MC 7.0.3, and putting the project into 25i, all pan & zoom effects are displayed as black. If you put the project into 1080 50i, the pan & zoom picture returns. Z800, SN 6.5, Z400 MC 7.0.3.
I think there is a nesting bug in 7.0.3 It was in 7.0.2 aswell.
Grade a shot using the color corrector.
Add an affect on it so that the color becomes nested.
Step into the nest to make color changes and you get a "track does not exist"
Maybe it only happens with 3rd party plugins (ive used MB Looks) on top of the color. Not too sure yet.
But I do get this error a lot and try to not add fx ontop of colored shots and create nests.
I cannot confirm this. I make a Color Correction using MC's CC FX, step-in and add a Magic Bullet Look, step out. Now I am able to re-edit the CC. After stepping-in again, I can change the MBL FX.
The same happens with a BCC FX.
Can you change the order so the color effect is inside the MB Looks. Maybe render both of them then edit.
Yes, I can first apply an MBL FX on a Clip, step-in, add the CC FX, step out. I can then independently adjust each of the 2 FX.
When you split stereo tracks to mono the Clip gain areset to 0db and one of the two monotracks is centered instead of left.
Very nice feature when you are working in a long sequence.

Yep -even fast import is slow. It seems to take 10 seconds to start and then will stall during import and then finally work. Very annoying.
Seems to have been an issue since Avid went AMA.

Can we go back to the way audio nodes used to be selected? Please? ie if you have audio nodes at the same time on selected tracks; then selecting 1 audio node selects them all at that time. Having to shift select nodes or add an in and out is time consuming and counter productive. At least make it an option.

I've been having weird things happen with panning as well, but can't put my finger on it. I panned a whole bunch of clips and tracks to center last night, and when I opened it today some of them had reverted to L-R.

I could not be applied to the whole panorama audio track (or in marking out). I had panorama marking on each clip separately.

Does the relativly short length of this thread mean that v7 is good ?

I've found it to be pretty stable.
I am definitely having a problem with media streams manager when launching - hangs up when connected to network. Launches pronto when network connection is disabled. Did not have this problem with 6.x or previous. 7 is apparently scanning one of my network drives forever. I can find nothing about that drive that's different from the others. But when it's removed or network is disabled, it launches fine.
