    5.5.1 MC will not load

I have OS 10.6.8 and I cannot for the life of me get my MC 5.5.1 to load on my system. It just tells me this below...

"AvidMediaComposer cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure AvidMediaComposer works with this version of Mac OS x. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X"

I haven't used my system in maybe a month as I've been out of the country, but it worked before I left and I haven't updated anything on it so I'm wondering what might be going on all of a sudden.

I know I could just uninstall and reinstall, but I don't want to mess with the hassel without at least asking the board a question.

Hopefully someone has an answer for me.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: 5.5.1 MC will not load

I looked at the comments section of the error I posted above and for some reason it isn't even recognizing a version of my media composer. If I use the uninstall feature in finder, will that unistall everything so I don't have to root around for it? Then just bust back out my discs and reinstall?

Again thanks for any help in advance.

Re: 5.5.1 MC will not load

Hello there Tom, thanks for the reply.

I don't hear any disc noise, but they are SSD with programs only so I don't know if there is a tell tale sign or etc if the drive is going crazy. All the other programs seem to work though so I would hope not.

Do you perhaps know if I can deauthorize the program on Avid's website? I'm not sure how to deauthorize without being able to open the program itself.

    Thanks in advance,

Re: 5.5.1 MC will not load

Uninstalling did make Media Composer work so that's nice.

However, when I went to look for posts on here about deauthorizing and etc people said that even if you forget, just uninstalling it will deauthorize it based on the MC that I had... not the case at all as not it says "node locked" which defeats the point. After trying to register MC again it tells me that it is already activated.

This is crap as I work during the week during their "hours" for my ASC and when I get home to my system they are closed and they are not open on the weekend and now I'm stuck waiting on their response to my submission which who knows when on earthy they'll get to that. If the support code I have it 200 I can only imagine what crazy cost the 24/7 is.

Done venting. Thanks for the suggestion above as it did work in getting it to finally open.
