Been gone for a couple years switched to adobe premiere, looking to see what Avid's been up to so I installed 7.0.2 tonight. I'm shooting with the Black Magic Cinema Camera 2.5k and Canon 5d III Raw Magic Lantern Hack. Searched the forums and all I found was a post from a year ago wondering what's the latest workflow to get cinemaDNG's into media composer?
For me the easiest solution is to Point Resolve at your Raw media folder.
Open a session in Resolve and render (Using Round trip to Avid preset) the clips straight into an Avid MediaFiles\MXF\Number folder.
Open a bin in Avid and open the AAF Resolve made when you rendered the cips. Your bin will populate with the media files
With this workflow you can either grade and render at the final resolution you want first in Resolve. Or you can render offline resolution clips and go back to Resolve to grade the picture when you are happy with the edit.
Thx for the tip Andrew! Does avid prefer one version of DNxHD over another? I don't see the mxf 350 option in DaVinci that shows up when I import footage into Avid.
I am not sure what you mean by mxf 350? Here is a good guide one of the bets and more clear one I have seen about the Raw to Avid workflow.
Thx I'll check out that link Lee. As for the mxf 350, It's under Video Resolution when I open the import window it says
Video Resolution: DNxHD 444 350X MXF
I'm used to seeing 220 or 175 versions of DNxHD and that's what I see in as options in DaVinci, although there is a DNxHD 444 option without the bitrate next to it, maybe that's the same?
