    Cached Waveforms issue.

    Hi Guys

Having MEGA weird issues with cached waveforms.

As I zoom in and out of my timeline the Waveforms "lose synce" with their video, and I have to zoom back in tight again to get them to relock as it were...  and then half my timelines waveform audio is greyed/browned out,  until I zoom in again.  And then also the waveforms seems to "remove edit points"   they are still all there but just not visible anymore.

    any ideas?

    System specs are: 2 x 2,4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC, ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB, OS X 10.8.3

    Bump

Should I be installing a specific video card driver?  maybe that is the problem?

Are you using the scale bar with the mouse or the keys on the keyboard to do the zoom in and out?

    Re: Cached Waveforms issue.

its doing it on both a keyboard zoom and a mouse zoom.  I can only think ive got something incompatable ...  im going to do an OS update to 10.8.4 which i see is supported on MC7.  I am also getting errors if IHIDE MC and work on another application such as email or chat, and then when i come back to Avid I always get Assertion Failed Slot && Slot nmumsamps   and i just hit continue and its all fine.

still doing it after 10.8.4 update.   I see also that if I click on the upper timecode bar in the Timeline view it "scrolls" my timeline up...  one move per click.  Is that a new feature? I couldnt imagine it being so.

all fixed !!!! found the problem !!!!

It was my own fault, I did not remember to make new User settings when I upgraded from 6.5.

Made new user settings and cached waveforms are behaving as they should   :)

ah that actually didnt fix it but I did find something interesting.  As long as Clip Names are selected on the timeline Clip Text menu then the cached waveforms behave perfect.  If you deselct clip names so that nothing is selected then try zoom in and out then the Waveforms misbehave...  would someone else be able to try this for me?

If I turn off Clip Names, I lose all of my audio edit marks and the timeline waveforms are indeed wonky.  I'll report it.

I'm seeing that in MC 7.0.4 also.

Sometimes the waveform doesn't match the audio, clip names are enabled.

In this example the audio starts at the in point, but there is no waveform.

When I'm zooming in, I can see the waveform.

Anybody else seeing that? This is really frustrating when you can't trust the waveform, anymore. Sometimes it fits to the picture and sometimes not... Is this a known bug?

I am still seeing a similar issue on 7.0.4.4, but on Windows. I have users in our department showing me audio tracks that have waveform data where there is no audio. Zooming in at any level displays the same.

I took a wav file from a bin and cut it in to different tracks and saw the same symptom.
