I posted a query earlier but I think I made it too involved. I'll try and make it simple.
I have Avid 6.5.2 on a laptop and on a desktop.
I stared an external project on an external hard drive via Avid on the laptop and consolidated some footage onto the external hard drive.
I have a different private project started on my desktop PC and I now want to bring the clips from the external project into it.
How do I do it?
I've tried a couple of things but they didn't work so I'd be grateful if someone could just tell me the best way to do it and I'll try that.
This problem is pushing me very far behind my schedule so I'd love it if someone could help.
Cheers
Dave
Dave,
Copy the bins containing the clips from the project on the laptop to project on the the desktop.
If the clips are offline it is possible that the folder structure that you have put the mediafiles into is not correct.
It should be:
(Drive Root)Avid Mediafiles/MXF/1 etc.
copy the numbered folder in Avid MediaFiles/MFX to Desktop PC, name it a new number (before copying it).
Copy your project to desktop pc.
Disconnect the external drive.
Trash the database files in the copied media folders.
Start MC.... it should scan.
In your project open the bins from your copied project and drag the bin contents to new bins in your Desktop PCs project...
That should work. never had any problems

Thanks Henrik.
I have some follow up questions. I'm really new to Avid.
'Copy your project to desktop PC' - and put it where?
'Trash the database files in the copied media folders' - how do I identify these?
Thanks very much.
Since you are new to MC I will suggest that you buy a tutorial on Media Management from Douglas. This explains in detail the best way to handle the Media and how to move projects between computers. Take a look under: http://www.gaijin-eyes.com/June2010DD/SalesHome.html
