Not sure if this has been mentioned in the Avid forums yet, but Larry Rubin has passed away. He was a very active member of this community and Senior Engineer for the Pentagon Channel group at Ft. Meade, MD. I don't know the details, but he was found at his home. He will be missed.

Thanks Dan for allowing me to hyjack this thread.
Avid Community Family and Friends,
It’s with deep deep sadness that I report we’ve recently learned of the untimely passing of a beloved community member, dear friend, and all around great guy, Larry Rubin.
Larry as most of you know, gave of himself selflessly to this community and all who came across his path. To inform, to instruct, to educate and often, to entertain. :) He was a mentor to many, a teacher to most, and a great friend to all and a family member to me.
His absence here will be felt by all.
We can’t ever hope to replace his presence here, but we can honor his memory.
If you have been touched by Larry’s generosity of time, expertise, and can-do spirit, please feel free to share your fond memory or story as a reply here on this thread.
Thanks Adam for your efforts to create the great banner in Larry's memory......
I am just completely devastated by this news, Larry was a dear friend, who I loved to pieces. I look forward to reading your stories.
With love,
Marianna
Thank you for posting this Dan. I worked with Larry at the Pentagon Channel and was going to post a message. I'm glad the word got out.

Shock and sadness are the operative words here. Larry was so much the wise, willing, welcoming voice of these forums.
He will be deeply missed.

I only knew him from the forum as well, but he helped me more times than I can count. My sincerest condolences to his family.
I have a fantastic editing assistant. He stays by my side when I edit...doesn't talk too much...and thinks I'm a genius! Check him out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQVkYaaPO6g

Will do Marianna.
In 2010, I went to Silver Spring, MD to visit Discovery HQ. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Larry at his apartment in Silver Spring. He was a great man, a dear friend, a die-hard Avid fan, and an invaluable asset to these forums. He will be missed on so many levels.

I hope this is a kind of joke from God or whomever.
I will be in position for the next hours or days to not believe this.
It's just not true.

I'm sad to say that Larry Rubin, our friend and colleague, has passed away.
Larry was a pillar of the Avid Forums community. He gave countless hours of his time to helping anyone he could and we all benefited from his advice and insight. His humor, wisdom and even his curmudgeonly (yet good natured) complaining will continue on in the more than twenty-four thousand Avid Forum posts that he wrote. We'll miss you Larry. # # #

That is such a shame. I met him when I did some work at Fort Meade a couple of years back. A great guy. A real loss.
