Crying [:'(] Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

I have a project created in Avid Xpress Pro.
Is there a mode to import this project in Avid Liquid?

    Help me!

    Thanks to all.

Export from Xpress as ALE, import as ALE into Liquid....should work...that said, I'm not in front of Liquid at the moment, am at my Liquid Blue station and this has this function....I am thinking that Liquid also does.

Re: Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

My Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.0 not allowed to export a project as ALE but only a sequence.
If I try to save my sequence as ALE the icon doesn't appear in the selected folder.
I can save a project only as AFE.
Can I export and import an OMFI file?

With Liquid, at this moment, you can only export OMFI files.

Re: Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

I tried it by clicking on the sequence folder or on a clip in a bin, it exported the ALE file. But I cannot read it in Liquid. I get a "track header error" or a missing media clip.

I also tried to export an EDL, but I also get missing media clips.

The long way is to export every clips or the sequence to a DV AVI file that Liquid can read. But you'll loose your sequence.

I hope that Avid will make it easier to exchange projects in the next version of Liquid.

Re: Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

You are supposed to be able to import XML files in Liquid, but I have not been able to do that for now.

I can import and export clips from Liquid in ALE and XML, but not from Xpress Pro.

When you have Liquid installed on the same system, you can export from XPro using a Pinnacle codec. You have several PCLE codecs that you can choose. You have 2YUV that is uncompressed, DVDCPro50, etc.

Re: Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

But is there a format that allowed me to export and import the informations about the sequence (cut, effects ecc.)? If I import the sequence then I'll can be a batch capture and work in AL.
What kind of information does EDL format save?

Re: Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

an EDL is only supposed to be for an offline type edit - so cuts, maybe simple transitions. not effects etc.

out of pure curiosity - why do you want to do this?

Re: Open an Avid Xpress project with Avid Liquid

    Hi Alex

Are you trying to export to project only or the project with media?

Using ALE it will only export the project settings (sequence info, clips mark in & outs etc...) there will be no media with the file, but from this you can batch digitize the clips into AL to rebuild the project.

How to export the Xpress Pro project using Avid Log Exchange:

Go to Windows Start Menu / Avid / Avid Log Exchange from there open the Xpress Pro project and then open each of the "Bins" you want to convert to ALE files, save as .ale files then import into a project in AL.

I wish AL would import OMFI files it would make this process a lot easier, how about including it into future releases of AL. Because AL has more FX power than most editing apps out there, or just so we can bring in Full and M&E OMFI mixes from ProTools or similar audio apps.

    Maybe in 7.5 or 8

    Cheers

    Brian
