Hi All,
Over the last few days we've started getting this error on with new installs of MC 6.0.3.2 and 6.0.3 on systems with either 10.8.2 or 10.7.5. These installs have all occured on cleanly formated drives. I've tried multiple reinstalls and even reformating/reinstalling the OS's on the systems but keep getting this error: "AvidMediaComposer cannot be opened because of a problem"
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Assuming you have not tried this already, try a fresh download of 6.0.3.2, to eliminate the possibility of corruption in the download installer you are currently using. And be advised that 10.7.5 and 10.8.2 both require 6.0.3.2, not 6.0.3.

Thanks Larry. A fresh download of 6.0.3.2 didn't solve the issue. I had only tried the 6.0.3 install as an attempt to eliminate it being a bug with 6.0.3.2 (we've had other 10.7.5 machines run 6.0.3 without issue). We've seen this error now on three different machines... all machines that ran 6.0.3 perfectly fine under 10.7.4 before their drives were reformatted (we reformat producer machines when they come back in). However, this error has not affected every machine, it seems to be random. Reformatting the drives again does not clear up the issue.
Hi, I have just got this message also.
was opening fine yesterday but now MC will not open.
MC 6.5.2.1
Did you update the OS?
OS 10.9.4 is not yet qualified, but you needed to be on MC v6.5.4 for OS 10.9.2.
MC v6.5.2.x is only qualified for Lion and Mountain Lion (up to OS 10.8.2).

Could it be a QT version thing? An NVidia driver version? By reformatting I take it you are reformatting the system drive and re-installing OSX then applications? Or do you just clone the system drive from a pre-installed version of OSX? If so that could be corrupt...

Can we go back to the way audio nodes used to be selected? Please? ie if you have audio nodes at the same time on selected tracks; then selecting 1 audio node selects them all at that time. Having to shift select nodes or add an in and out is time consuming and counter productive. At least make it an option.
I have done the stupid thing of trying to run 6.5.4.2 on Mavericks 10.9.3. (I thought I was doing the right thing, but by the time I actually upgraded to Mavericks it had jumped up a version number and I hadn't noticed.)
Anyway - I get the same error message saying Avid can't be opened because of a problem. Won't run at all. Is that what happens to everyone else who has done the same thing? I am just suspicious that I might have a greater problem?
But if the error message I'm getting is what everyone else would get in the same situition, then fine, I will just sit tight and wait until an upgrade. This is on my home set-up by the way - not needed for real work at the moment, thank goodness!
Thanks in advance!
Are your privacy settings allowing for running All programs from all developers?
They are now, but weren't when I downloaded the latest upgrade. Would that make a difference?
Maybe just trying a fresh download/install is the way to go...
