Hi,
Just got the Ultrastudio Mini Monitor for monitoring to a 42" LCD through HDMI (for ofline work). It works great for the price, little-to-no lag with trimming, great quality video out. Very happy with my perchase.
My only problem is that there is no seperate control for audio output. I want to output my audio to my Line-Out jack (instead of the Blackmagic), but I can't change the setting in the "Audio Project" -> "Hardware" dialogue.
In the Blackmagic panel in System Prefs there is no option to turn audio out off...
Is there some other way to change this? It sucks, since I don't want to loop-back to my sound system... Help will be appreciated. Thanks!

15" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display (i7 2.3ghz, 16gb)
Black Magic Ultrastudio Mini Monitor (Drivers up-to-date)
I think its designed thgis way meaning, Avid will output sound only thru the BM box if its attached. You yould use a line out of the TV to monitor audio, or loop back to a mixer connected to your computer speakers.
Yeah, I was beginning to suspect that. Well, could be worse...
Try contacting blackmagic support. They might have a workaround. If not maybe they'll add the feature in the future, doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to add. Any idea if the same thing happens when using the sdi output?
Its not just BlackMagic. Its the same with any hardware attached. There assuming your using the audio outputs of your I/O box to a pair of dedicated monitors.
That's a problem when the i/o box doesn't have any audio outputs.
Yes, that is correct. One of the limitations of this BM box and the AJA T-Tap is your only gonna get audio thru the device your monitoring through.
Pprobably a dumber question but did you try going to "Sound" in system preferences and changing the output back to the mac?
I had the same problem with the decklink mini monitor card. Try this, works perfect for me!

Doesn't that give you a delay in your audio?
No, no delay.
That sounds good. Do you have any delay between your computer and your playback? I saw the setup of a friend of mine with the Mini Monitor, but there was this splitsecond delay between the source/record monitor and the playback monitor.
No, no delay with computer monitor and video monitor with 6.5.
But if you playback desktop sound over mini monitor as sound output device, audio is delayed, so you have to choose built in audio for that.
Thanks for the fast response, I'm planning to use the Mini Monitor as well. And thanks for the headsup about the desktop audio. I wanted to have that seperate under my mixer anyway, so that won't be a problem. And I imagine if I would get any delay through the card, the audio that goes through the same card would get the same delay as well.
Hi there,
Was thinking of getting the Mini Monitor for use with my Retina Macbook. Running 7.0.3 and Mavericks 10.9.1. Any issues with this if you have experience on these versions? And I too would like to use the audio jack from the Macbook. Did Black Magic change anything to allow this?
Thx
