Hi there,
I really like the Subcap Tool.
But there is a big problem, which makes it useless for professional work:
In the first picture its very subtle, but its there. When you look at the "y" & "g" you can see that the shadow and outline is cut off at the bottom of the letter.
In the second picture it is very bad, here the last part of the letter is cut off.
The problem appears with italic and not out of the box fonts. This is big problem because we really need italic when making captions!
I think its a bug in the software rendering the text in a too smal "virtual" box or something like that. You cannot change it in the settings. I tried every parameter in the subcap tool. Nothing helped.
I hope you can put this bug on your to-do list. It is really important for the use of the subcap tool.
Best regards,
Max
experienced the same bug with 6.0.3. so this is still not fixed....
used Arial and only the letters A and V were slightly cut off when being first or last Letter in a Row.
inseye.de [inseye.de köln - videoproduktion - avid media composer, adobe after effects]
Seen this happen too, so I have escalated the issue.
Changing the row spacing to 3 (under box appearance) sometimes helps...
Another problem that is killing me is the keyboard input problem, where letters get swapped around if you type slowly. I have replicated this on 3 different mac based installations on 6.03 and 6.52. Now I type in a text editor and paste the subtitles into the subcap tool.
I think that's an old bug. What I do usually is just add a blank iine to the text, not neat but it works. And if I remember corretly, if you add a space to the end of the line it might work as well. It has to do with the surrounding box.
I'm on MC7 and I'm currently having this problem. Is there any solutions to it? Changing the row spacing hasn't solved anything in my case. It's actually the last letter of each line that's getting clipped, regardless of the box width.
Thank you.
Prisca
4 Years later and this Bug still exists!
Avid please, this can't be such a big thing to fix. The SubCap tool is so great and easy to use in comparison to other Applications! I really love it. But when the texts doesn't look perfect it's useless.
I believe in you! You can do this : )
Hi Max,
What AvidMC version you experience this? Can you provide the details, I will have support team investigate this.
Regards,
Ralph

i create a normal Subtext with the Subcap-Tool and change the appearance.
I already made screenshots and described the problem in the starting post of this thread ; )
The Problem appears also with normal fonts, no italic but with bigger outlines. The outline gets cut off.
Thank you!

hi job - i am getting an issue you reported a couple of years ago - with the subcap generator - it cuts off half of my text - please have a look - when i use a unicode font specified by the dutch broadcast system - NPO subtitling - i get this:
any ideas?
thanks!
This thing still exists in 8.8.4 on OSX 10.12.4
You can fix it: "Box Appearance" -> "Separate Boxes For Each Row".
You may need to use "Extent" -> "Each Row As Wide As Widest" as well.
//e: Just came across another subtitle which is not fixed with this... pity. Row spacing helps out but changes the desired style. If you wanna keep the row spacing 0 or below you'd probably need to create double subtitles if you have multiple rows of text.
Cheers,
