    ISIS interplay authentication

I can't setup Avid ISIS authentication. In Avid interplay administrator "User Authentication Providers" i've entered name of the System Director, successfully applied changes. In ISIS management console i've created user, I can login with this user to ISIS management console. The problem is: I can't login to interplay access using this user account, i get "Username or password is invalid"

    Hi Taras,

First of all understand the difference between ISIS and Interplay, ISIS is storage and Interplay is Media Management (amongst other things).  2 totally seperate entities, but also work together.

    1.  You do not enter the name of the SD in the UAP, you enter the name of your ISIS.  i.e.  xxxx-ISIS.

    2.  In Interplay you typically "import" the users from a domain controller.  But you can Create a user in there as well, If you can login into Interplay as an Admin, you can then do this.

    3.  I would suggest as well, that you talk with the Avid Field rep or your engineering staff who setup your system as well.  If you are an engineer, then I suggest you do the ACSR track as this will get you on the ACSR e-mail list.  This will get you a plethora of broadcast engineering support, not just Avid related.  The list is a resource that is worth it's weight in gold!

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

Hello. I understand difference between ISIS and Interplay.

    1. Can you be more specific, where can i get this name of my ISIS?  I've read in Interplay admin guide about name of System Director.

    2. You are  right about creating users manually, but I would like to use Unity Authentication feature. Import from domain controller does not suit my configuration.

    3. Thank you for advice.

Ok, I see it is an ISIS 5000.  A bit different than an ISIS 7000.

Since it appears that you can log into the System Director, the url you type into the browser should be the name of your ISIS.  i.e. http://AvidISIS

I went back and re-read your original post more carefully.

What is the name of your Interplay server?

When you launch Interplay Access it is the first line?  "Server"  (xxxx-wg          IP address)

What is the name of your database?  Second line (AvidWG)

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

Url in browser is http://isis1 where "isis1" is System Director hostname.

My name of Interplay server is "interplay", again like computer name. Yes, it's first line in interplay access.

    Name of database is AvidWG.

Interplay server should be xxxx-wg (typically "company/organization name"-wg, without quotes)

    Name of database is good.

Can you login to Access as an administrator?

Yes, i can login to Access as an administrator, and with other users, that I create in Avid interplay administrator "user management" with internal authentication enabled, but not with ISIS users.

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

It sounds to me like there is a disconnect between the ISIS and Interplay authentication.

    Check this:

    1.  On the Interplay Engine, in the run window type in services.msc

    2.  In the services pane, right click on AvidWorkgroup TCP COM Bridge Service and select properties

    3.  Select the logon tab, there should be a Service Execution User account there.  This account should also be on the ISIS as well.  Confirm that.  DO NOT CHANGE IT!!  If it is not there, consult with Avid.

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

There is user on interplay "nxnuser", in logon tab in AvidWorkgroup TCP COM Bridge Service. It's present in Local Users and groups at interplay server, but it's not on Local Users and groups at isis server.

So, you're saying that I can't do nothing by myself, that's avid support area of responsibility?

    update

I've found "nxnuser" in ISIS management console

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

That user needs local admins rights on the OS for the OS for the Interplay Engine server and read/write access to the Avid Unity/ISIS storage file system.  Is that a user in ISIS?  It should be.  It should not be a user on the System Director.  It appears that it is not, which is good.

Are any of the ISIS users showing up in Interplay as users?

What type of switch are you using?

How long has your system been in operation?

You may need to contact Avid.

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

Yes, "nxnuser" has local admins rights on Interplay Engine server. As I wrote earlier "I've found "nxnuser" in ISIS management console", if that's mean that user in ISIS, then it is. This user has RW access to existing isis workspaces.

In Avid interplay administrator "user management" branch imported users\UNITY is empty, so I don't see any isis users in interplay.

Switch is certified by avid, actually there is two Force10 S25N.

System is in soon-to-be-launch condition, currently not in operation.

I already wrote our support/setup specialist.

I thought that you were looking on the system director vice the ISIS.  My apologies for not not quite understanding your post.

Can those users login to an editor and interplay and authenticate to ISIS?

This close to game time, the Avid Professional Services Engineer is your best bet.

    Re: ISIS interplay authentication

I don't quite understand what users do you mean, but that's not matter for now. Our Avid specialist already setup authentication.

    what has done:
    -setup isis client on interplay engine;
-in User Authentication Providers write computer name of System Director, computer name of additional storage (second isis), virtual name of isis. 3 records, in my case.

    for now it works
