Canon EOS/5D clips appear black when AMA linked or imported

I've shot some clips with a Canon 5D Mkiii (29.97 fps H.264 1920x1080 all i-frame / highest quality). They look great in Quicktime player but appear black in Avid Media Composer (6.0.3)

Regardless of whether I link via AMA or import/convert to Avid codec, the result is the same: a black movie with audio.

I can convert with Adobe Media Encoder or Compressor, but would like to avoid this step if possible.

Can anyone offer any suggestions to fix this?

    Many thanks

Have you got "Perian" or "Flip4Mac" installed on your Macintosh? If so, try deinstalling both.

I did have Flip4Mac installed. I deleted its prefs, uninstalled it, restarted but still no luck.

    DOH!

I wonder if anyone else is having similar issues or has found a workaround.

    Problem Solved - thanks Pierreh!

It turned out that I did have Perian installed in the Quicktime components. Once this was removed the clips were no longer black.

For some reason search didn't turn it up. Fortunately Mackeeper did.

    Thanks Pierreh!
