    Thanks Larry

Do you think it's worth the upgrade?

I'm happy with Lion 10.7.4 and Media Composer 6.0.3

    Madem:

If you're happy with the performance you have and you don't need new features in 6.5, stay with what you have. I'm running 6.5 on 10.7.2 on a MacBook Pro 3,1 and it's screamingly fast and very stable. I have no intentions of upgrading the OS until I'm forced to do so.

So before I could do the update, Apple released 10.8.2.  I am not even on Mt. Lion.  Is there a way to get 10.8.1?

If you are not already on OS X 10.8, then Larry's post will not work.  That is an upgrade to anyone who already is running Mountain Lion.

As we've mentioned before, since Apple switched to the App Store for downloads, you should always purchase the base release when it comes out BUT NOT INSTALL IT.  You can always download the .x version later to install on top of it, but once Apple pulls the base release from the App Store, it's hard to find.

Apple was selling thumb drives with Mountain Lion on them...see if you can find one of those.  Then you can download using Larry's link and install 10.8.1 on top of that.

I may have jumped the gun on OS 10.8.1 and MC 6.5.  Can you clarify "local storage".

i.e. media and renders can only go to system drive or to internal drives?   I've just installed

a smaller SSD to keep the internal clutter down, and pulled all my internall HDDs, as I work

off a new external for each job.  Could this be my problem with Avid Pan n Zoom? (another post)?

And perhaps a host of other issues I may find.  It's working pretty well on the 4 externals I have

attached right now, though I did experience some strange crashes yesterday that spooked me.

In this case local storage only means not qualified for shared server multi-room collaborative environments, like ISIS and Unity.

Thanks.  Maybe I should try a reinstall.   Can't change color of clips and can't seem to get Pan and Zoom to work, but

guess I'm OK on the externals.  Thanks again.

It seems that that repair permissions and default installs of Mountain Lion result in many folders being reset to Read only. So IMO it is probably worth checking the permissions for all relevant drives / folders

Please make Slip and Slide mode selection AND any added new functions available for mapping (to buttons or KB) via the Command Palette.
