I'm looking at a possible jon in which I would be working out of my home and then finalizing at a facility. Here's the glitch...I have MC 5.5 and the facility has 3.5. Besides being sure not to ue advanced effects, would the 3.5 system be able to read the 5.5? (Don't know yet whether the facility is using Mac or PC...I'm using Mac)
Thanks.

Yes it will, with the caveat that any effects present in version 5 that are not in version 3 will be "read only" in version 3 as long as they were fully rendered in version 5 first. Any attempt to change those effects in version 3 will result in media offline for that pre-compute file until returned to version 5 for repair.

Thanks Larry--is this theory or have you seen it actually work?
I have taken projects from version 5 to version 4 successfully, within the caveat I described. Should work the same for version 3.
Thanks Larry!
You're quite welcome, Jonathan. Good luck!
Larry...a follow up. I did try this situation...cutting a simple sequence with no effects on 5.5 then taking it to a 3.5 system. What occured was a playback of the timeline cut in half (lierally) horizontally...with the picture playing on the top half and digital static on the lower half. I didn't have the time or inclination to troubleshoot past this so I installed 3.5 after deactivating 5.5. Just thought you'd like to know.
