Is there a way to relink clips transcoded to DNxHD 36 to the original/highest quality AMA clips? 

I have a mix of XDCAM & P2 media that were transcoded to 36 for offline in Avid MC 5.0.3. The Editor worked with the .new transcoded clips for offline. Now with picture locked, it is time to upres/conform and I can't relink the transcoded clips to the original media.Is this possible? 

Or, is the only option to go back to the AMA clips and manually overcut with the higher quality media? 

FYI - we are now using MC 5.5.3

As long as the clips where originally AMA linked and then transcoded inside MC then you should be able to re-link back to the AMA sources. If the transcode was done outside MC or the clips where imported then you can't get back to the AMA sources.

You have to re-mount the AMA clips in the project and ensure they are all online. Then try and relink the sequence. If that doesn't work ensure the bins with the online AMA clips are open and chose to relink t clips in open bins. (no idea why this works when a normal relink won't sometimes but it does)

Another question - I have the original AMA clips that most of my offline media was transcoded from. However, I do not have the original drives that had the media linked to those AMA clips. I have a set of cloned drives with the same media. Is there a way in Avid to relink AMA clips? I've tried relinking, but it doesn't seem to work.
