Just got this message after attempting to import some Canon 550d clips into MC6. I was trying for 10 but it only imported 3 and left me with this message.
No idea. But then again, these error messages rarely mean anything.
Had you AMAed them first, or straight import?
Does it happen consistentyly with certain clips, or not?

I have a group of students on 20 different systems getting the same error message. The common element seems to be h.264 footage. We've got files from Kodak Zi8, iPhone, various still cameras, Canon 5D. All having the exact same error.

Basically the error means that some function wasn't successful (without specifying which) OR your don't have at least one display connected to your computer. The latter could be caused by your displays going to sleep (switch this off in Energy Saver in System Prefs) but it's hard to know what the former is caused by. The console will probably give more details.

I get the exact same error with MC 6.0.1, but while exporting a sequence. The sequence (HD 1920x1080) is about 2 hours long, composed with a mix of AMA Quicktime clips, and DNxHD imported clips. The error occurs when I export the complete sequence to "Quicktime Movie", generally after 90 min of processing. The file generated before the crash has always the same size.Export of the whole sequence as HDV works fine.My screen saving settings are set as "Never standby", but I get the error anyway.Should it be a bug concerning sequences with AMA .mov files ?
Same error here when trying to export a 2 hour interview in DNxHD to Squeeze H.264. My displays were going to sleep. Turned that off - will try again.

i`m getting the same message as Nnate in the first post.
It pops up, when i´m importing DNxHD Mov Material, which was created by MPEG Streamclip out of h264 material filmed with an eos 550d.
AMC v 6.0.1.1 running on the 12 Core Mac Pro Mid2010 / Mac OS X 10.7.3
This error persists in the latest version 6.0.3. Really frustrating seeing as how my students shoot a lot of cannon footage for assignments.

I just got a similar MSG trying to transcode a sequence of Prores444 clips to DNxHD185x

Not sure if this is what's causing the trouble, but 10.7.4 isn't qualified with 6.0.1. If you're running 10.7.4, you should go to the download center and get the MC upgrade to 6.0.3 (it's a free upgrade).

Hi,
I'm having the same error message display when batch importing 7d H264 files. It seems to batch import fine when just one or two clips are selected but anything more than 4 gives me this error message. It pops up about every 10 minutes and if I hit Debugger it just continues importing but this means I need to sit in front of the computer while importing over 80 clips.
I'm working on 10.7.4 and I've upgraded to 6.0.3. Any thoughts on what the issue might be??
Thanks,
Kim
Hi All -
I just wanted to post that last night I tried changing my display settings to "never" turn off and I was able to batch import my clips successfully with no error message!
Hope this helps others.
Energy Saving settings / Screen Savers can mess with Avid. The recommendation is always to turn them to "Never".
Hello,
sine I was using 4 Gb of RAM I never succceeded to export to QT-h264 any sequence longer that 5 mn (1hour30 failed, 2hours failed).
Now that I upgraded my RAM to 8 Gb, I successfully exported a 1h34mn sequence.
Should it be some memory leak in the QT-h264 encoder ?
Hope this helps
