Hi all
I've just installed MC6 on my 2011 MBP and all is good, bar one odd bit of behaviour. Whenever I hit stop (or even pause) while playing in the timeline, the playhead stops, then jumps 8 frames forward. Every time. A quick restart has not fixed this.
Anyone else experiencing it? It's so consistent it feels like a 'feature' but I can't imagine what purpose it would serve.....
Thanks
LF
The normal questions:
What OS? Did you do a clean install or upgrade of the OS?
Did you create a new user or import an old one? Does this happen with all users?

Thanks Kevin
Lion 10.7.2 fully updated, clean install, new user, I'm the only user so far and I've not changed a lot aside from keyboard and timeline settings.
I would just try to create a new one and see if you see the same behavior.
Also, where is your media playing back from?
Ok will do.
Playing back from my Promise Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID. There's no stuttering or other issues aside from this one.
Just to confirm - exactly the same issue with a new user, 100% repeatable, and it's definitely not media-related as it behaves the same way with a completely empty timeline.
OK...I haven't seen any other reports of this yet, so before I can escalate it, I need a few others to chime in with the same problem.
Lord Fluff:it behaves the same way with a completely empty timeline
If the Timeline is empty how are you playing anything to see the problem?

You can see the cursor hop forwards in the timeline. I've found by repeated close observation that the hop is 8 frames, give or take.
One more bit of info - the behaviour is the same when playing backwards - ie when you press pause or stop whilst playing backwards the cursor stops, then hops a further 8 frames backwards up the timeline.

Happens with SD and HD avid media, online and offline, and as noted, with a totally empty timeline, so not media-related.
More info
If I disable the client monitor (blue icon) the hop reduces to one frame only....
Seems like I am the only one with this issue?
It's so odd - it's like the machine is trying to correct for something....dunno what though. Like I say, it's a consistent hop forward (or backwards in reverse) whenever I come out of play (either by stop or pause).
Playback delay in the video display setting I'd guess.
It's set to compensate for the delay in the IO unit. While the timelines playing it's showing you the current location but the actual output is likely to be x frames off so when you stop the timeline "catches" back up.
Just a guess.
