    Nanoflash, AMA and duplicated UMIDs

    Hi All!

I have some serious problems with nanoflash's recordings. The Umid's (Universal Media ID) is corrupt in some files (20 files/card - 3 cards/Day - 20 Days - LOT'S OF FILES!!!).

Workflow: AMA Link -> Offline editing @ DNxHD36 -> Online -> AAF to DaVinci Resolve
System: Avid MC 5.5.3 Mac OS SnowLeopard 10.6.8

Here the way i found it:

I recently got a feature documentary for ingest and editing. It was shot on a Sony XDCam EX and recorded to a Nanoflash (1080p25, 100Mbits, Long-GOP) as MXFs.

I installed the AMA-MFX plugin as far as it's not shipped anymore.

When I started to link the MXF-Files I noticed that not all of the files in a folder were linked, and some came out black. I stumbled upon some threads about the same problem. I cannot afford the time & money for the workaround proposed in these threads (converting to .MOV with Caliibrated Software).

So i asked someone to help me. We found out that all the files that either came out black or were not linked, played back normally in vlc-player. They also imported correctly into avid through the normal import command (but i need to go through the AMA-Offline/AMA-Online process).

Then we loaded all clips of our testing-folder into the XDCam Transfer Application. Here we saw what went wrong:
All those files that were not linked have duplicated UMID Strings from those clips that came out black.

    -> see attachment

The AMA Plugin scans for those umid's not the filenames, and when there is a duplicated umid, it goes for the first file.

I tried to detect those duplicated umid-files in the XDCamTransfer application and move them to a seperate folder.

Then i tried to link them into another bin: fail! - it linked the same "first" files! Sad
I tried to link them into a new Project: fail! - correct clips linked but came out black! Sad

I'm at the end of my knowledge now!

How can i get those files into my AVID throug AMA?
How can I clean up the Meta/UMID?

    Many Thanks in Advance!

    Greetings from Vienna

    Christoph
