Gus has been involved in beta-testing the last seven versions of Avid DS Nitris, DS|HD and Avid Symphony Nitris.  He is also a former Avid employee and Certified Avid Instructor.  A former linear editor and early adopter of both DS and Media Composer, he is currently the Director of Creative Editorial at a major Post Production company in Burbank, CA. 

Michael Forrest ( mrmikster )

Michael was one of the first instructors in the world certified to teach Avid DS Nitris. As an early Beta Tester for Avid/Softimage, he has extensive experience and knowledge of this state of the art, video-production system. He has worked with most of the major studios in Los Angeles as a Avid Media Composer and Avid Nitris editor. He also helped design curriculum that is used as a model for multimedia programs at colleges throughout the state of California. Michael has offered consulting services to many post production companies to advance their HD services and systems. He is considered one of the most experienced and capable editors in Hollywood and is frequently entrusted to complete multimillion dollar films. His work is seen by millions in theaters and on television around the world. As a Senior Online Editor he has created compelling pieces that have won him multiple Emmy Awards. Michael resides in Southern California.

Chris has been in television industry for over 20 years. Chris has been an editor for 15 years, with 11 years working on Avid. Starting as an ENG cameraperson, Chris has been a certified Avid editor for 10 years. Working at Galen Films and as an independent editor, Chris has mostly concerned himself with documentary production and post-production. He lives in rural New England with his wife and little girl.

Todd has been an editor for over 20 years with 10 years of linear online and over 15 years of NLE time under his belt. Todd has been an ACI and ACSR for Avid and is one of the inaugural members of the Avid Master Editor classes. Robert Davis (adman)

After developing his artistic abilities from an early age, Robert started his advertising career as a graphic artist while still in high school. After high school, he acquired degrees in Commercial Art and (later) Marketing & Computer Science while working in various advertising agency capacities -- including extensive broadcast work - for several award-winning agencies. Robert started his own agency in 1989. He added a Pro Tools recording studio in 1999 and an Avid video editing suite in 2002. In addition to extensive use of typesetting & graphics hardware/software throughout his career, he has been a Pro Tools and Xpress Pro user for years. He hosted a computer graphics user's group for several years and has taught computer graphics at an Atlanta area business school. He is also an accomplished writer, producer and creative director. His advertising agency has served several Fortune 500 clients and has received numerous international awards. His work has been exhibited at the prestigious Cannes Lions Advertising Festival.

Randy Brown (R&B)

Randy is a broadcasting veteran who began his career in radio as a top-40 disc jockey in 1969. As such, he brings a somewhat different skill-set to the table than most video producers, having come to it from an audio background.  "But once I discovered that a digital timeline for video isn't much different than a digital timeline for audio," says Brown, "it demystified the process considerably." Nationally honored for his achievements in radio by industry peers many times over as an on-air personality, radio program director, voice talent and producer of radio commercials, Randy added video production to his repertoire a few years ago and now offers video production services through his company, Brown Media, Inc., based in suburban Atlanta since 2001. Though his core business remains voiceovers, mostly as an "imaging voice" for broadcasters (he is the station signature voice on over 30 radio stations coast-to-coast, and has been heard on all the major broadcast television networks), he's been doing corporate videos for the past few years and now has his sights set on creating original content for DVD distribution.  Once the lead play-by-play voice for the nationally-syndicated PGA TOUR Radio, Randy is an avid golfer who lives with his dog Mulligan, a "Golden Golf Ball Retriever."  Randy learned video production on Avid Express DV and now does all his video work in Avid Xpress Pro HD.

Howard Brock ( hbrock )

Howard Brock has been involved in filmmaking longer than he can remember. After a few years of production work, Howard settled on editing and post production. Over the years he has worked on music videos, prime time specials, syndicated news shows, pilots, sitcoms and documentaries. Howard won a Emmy for Best Videotape Editing of a Series for "Fame" in 1984. Howard founded Matchframe Video and pioneered the concept of renting out sophisticated offline and online editing systems and grew his small rental operation to a full service post production facility with almost 100 employees. After leaving Matchframe in 2002 he returned to editing work doing both online and offline projects. His latest venture is a company that will provide a multitude of services for clients utilizing affordable desktop editing solutions. Howard resides in California.

Menno Drenth ( Baklap )

Menno has been involved in broadcast for nearly 18 years in an assistant role building sets for movie shoots, then became as sound engineer for with ENG. After 10 years at ENG, he went out on his own. With six years of various experiences, he has built a good name in the Netherlands when it comes to Avid editing and technical knowledge. An active participant of the Avid forums, Menno also hosts a Dutch Avid related forum of his own. Menno is based in the Netherlands.

James Jones ( James Jones )

James has been involved in television production since 1992. His main focus has been in government/industrial video. Starting out as camera operator, James edited whenever he had the chance. James found editing to be his calling, and firmly believes you have to be able to shoot in order to appreciate the editing aspect...and visa versa. James has worked on a variety of platforms (linear, hybrids and non-linear). He currently reside in San Antonio, TX.

Initially trained in human geography and classical archaeology, Hans has been working for more than 20 years as a trainer and educational manager in ICT. During his studies and thereafter he also worked part-time in an audiovisual studio where he was engaged in photography, 16mm filmmaking and editing. In this period he made the transition from film to video production. He has been trained in visual communication, ENG camera, directing and editing at the training institute for the Dutch broadcasting companies and the audio-visual industry. Currently Hans is producing documentaries and corporate videos and is freelancing as a cameraman, director and editor. Furthermore he is active as a trainer in Avid Media Composer, Avid Interplay Assist, Xpress Pro and Xpress DV. He is a member of the Dutch Avid User Group. Hans is based in the Netherlands.

Dylan has been editing professionally for the last 6 years, and dabbled extensively before that. In that time he has collected credits on many of New Zealand's highest rated shows, on all channels, as well as working on international projects. Dylan is current a staff editor with a television network and continues to do daily offline and online editing for high-profile television shows. He is very comfortable with Media Composer and Xpress Pro systems, and is gradually coming to learn DS. Before the exciting world of television, Dylan had worked variously in graphic design, marketing and PR, IT administration and web development. Dylan resides in New Zealand.

Todd Sanderson ( Todd Sanderson )

Todd began his editing career in 1990, producing and editing TV shows at his high school, and at Ohio University, where he directed and edited five films ranging from 8-45 minutes in length as well as countless smaller projects and television shows, some award winning. During his last two years at college, he began his foray into Avid, After Effects and Photoshop, becoming a daily and nightly resident in the Avid lab. After college he took a job as an editor at a small corporate studio in the woods of Newfane. A few years later, Todd picked up and moved back to Ohio , freelancing on features and other videos as both an editor and special effects artist. Then opportunity knocked, and he made the move to Hartford, Connecticut where he currently works as a full time Avid Editor at Motion Inc.

Kevin has been a commercial video editor for over 13 years. Starting out as a linear editor, and moving to Avid products in 1997, he has worked on numerous national and regional commercials for clients such as Walgreens, Kohl's, Ski-doo, and the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Since 1999 he has been working at Independent Edit in Milwaukee.

Scott Carnegie ( Scott Carnegie )

Scott has been working in broadcast since 1998, and at a national level since 2001. He has been editing with Avid products such as Avid Xpress, Avid Xpress DV, Avid Xpress Pro and Avid Media Composer since 1999. Scott was a participant on the AvidProNet.com discussion boards before they were assimilated into the current Avid Community forums and has come to be a respected member of the on-line Avid Community. In addition to his work for broadcasters, he also runs the production company MediaCircus.TV.  Scott is an award winning producer and editor based out of Winnipeg Manitoba.

Douglas Bruce (drbgaijin)

Douglas gave up golf at the age of 14 to take up Judo. Later in life he studied medicine at St. Andrews University for a few years before having his studies "terminated" as he was doing too much judo and not enough studying. Douglas was always interested in capturing visual images so he worked his way through pencil and paper/ water colors to Kodak Brownie Box Camera/ 9.5mm B&W Cine camera, then on to Single 8 and Double 8 with a sound stripe. Douglas moved to Sweden in 1968 and from there it started. His first contact with computers was in 1980 when he bought a Sinclair ZX80 and then moved on to a Commodore 64. Produced first short video (30seconds long in 16 shades of gray) after an all night render! During his time in Sweden he pursued 3 parallel careers: Judo - pioneer in Swedish Children's judo. Douglas developed an ability to communicate difficult techniques in a simple and easy to understand fashion. A trait he puts to good use today in his many tutorials for newcomers to MC. IT Manager in a medium sized company in Stockholm and finally he started his own small business doing web pages and "instructional" videos and DVDs. Douglas began using FAST's Studio DV in the 1990's and then moved to Kumamoto Japan (2001) to get married and finally settle down. Douglas now pursues 2 careers: He runs a small English Conversation School together with his wife and he produces short videos of Japan as seen through the eyes of a foreigner (Gaijin-eyes).Douglas upgraded to Pinnacle Liquid and then (finally) to Media Composer 2.8 in early 2008 and had been producing HD/SD video for the web since the late 1990's and working with Blu-Ray since early 2007. he is responsible for over 80 Media Composer tutorials on community.avid.com. Douglas was born in St. Andrews, Scotland and resides in Kumamoto Japan.

Rob Gonsalves (RobG)

Rob Gonsalves is a Senior Consulting Engineer at Avid Technology. After attending Northeastern and U. Mass Lowell, he joined Avid as their 15th employee in 1989. Rob specializes in programming effects and color correction for video and film post-production, and is currently the technical lead for development of Symphony Nitris. He holds 31 patents in the field of non-linear video editing.

Roger Sacilotto ( RogerSacilotto)

Roger has been with Avid since 1993, working in software development, focusing on workgroups and solutions engineering since the MediaServer (SGI) product days.  Roger has been involved in Avid Interplay design and development from the very beginning.

Ralf Puchner ( rpuchner )

Ralf has been with Avid for approximately 2 years and is a third level support engineer at Avid Development GmbH in Munich, Germany.  Ralf came to Avid from Hewlett Packard mission critical support with 10 years of experience in Windows and Unix troubleshooting and problem solving.    

Shane Rodbourn (Shane Rodbourn)

Shane is responsible for the Software Development of Editor Applications, Interplay Applications and Workgroup Services within Video Engineering at Avid Technology.  In additional to his development responsibilities, Shane acts as Engineering liaison to many cross-functional teams such as Customer Support, Program Management, Product Management.  Shane also interfaces with Partners/Third Parties and major customers as necessary.

Since joining Avid in 2000, Shane has contributed to major projects including Trilligent, Unity MediaNet, ISIS, Workgroup4, Interplay, and several Editor Releases. Prior to being Director of Engineering, Shane was the Director of Quality Assurance and Systems Engineering Teams at Avid where he demonstrated a passion for Quality and Avids customers.

Shane is a Member of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) – New England Section, American Society of Quality (ASQ) New England Chapter, and Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN).

Johannes Weis (jweis)

Johannes is the Engineering Manager for the Workgroup Services team at Avid Technology. The Workgroup Services team contributed to the development of Interplay and owns several components of the system. Before becoming a manager, Johannes was a Software Engineer himself and has worked in the industry since the 80’s. Amongst other companies he has worked at IBM, Cisco and PictureTel. Johannes is originally from Austria and came to the US in 1994.  He and his family now live in Massachusetts.

Ken Brown (AusKen)

Ken Brown has been working in computer and network support since 1994. Ken started in front line support with Avid Australia in June 1999 where he became the Unity MediaNetwork product specialist as well as trainer for Windows and Unity ACSR programs in Australia. Ken is currently working at FOXTEL, an Australian cable television provider, supporting a large Interplay and ISIS installation.

Mike Fandozzi (MikeF)

Mike is the Director of Engineering responsible for Software Quality Assurance, and Systems Engineering. In addition Mike is the Development Lead for Avid’s Interplay (Workgroup) solution and is responsible for coordinating the development activities across all of Avid’s engineering locations.

Mike has been on the Avid Engineering Team for over 10 years working at first as a developer and later moving on to lead the development of both the Workgroup and Interplay solutions. Mike has also been involved in the development of many other Avid product including Media Composer, AirSpeed, ProEncode, DMS, Nearchive, etc.

Lyne Champagne (Champlyne)

Lyne is a software developer who joined Softimage 8 years ago as part of the DS data management team where she became the technical lead of the Quality Management area. Lyne also participated in the implementation of many workgroup related functionalities with DS, such as remote processing and media indexing.  She’s now the Technical Manager of the Montreal Media and Metadata Services team (M3s), who’s responsible of Media Indexing and Quality Management (MultiRez) on Interplay.

Mercedes Garvey (mercedes)

Mercedes is a video editor with over twenty year’s experience. Mercedes works for Ireland’s National Television and Radio Station in Ireland, RTE (Radio Telefis Eireann). Initially working on tape, she has been working with Avid Media Composer since 2000 (with a brief stint on NewsCutter). RTE was a Beta site for AVID Interplay and Mercedes was the lead editor on the project. She now spends her time between editing and training new users on the system.

Savva Mueller (savvam)

Savva is a Product Manager responsible for newsroom products at Avid. He joined Avid in 1998 from WTMJ-TV, where he worked as a video editor, and also as an Avid Product Specialist and Quality Assurance engineer prior to joining the Product Management group. Savva has been involved in the development of the Avid iNEWS, Avid Instinct, Avid Active ContentManager, Avid ControlAir, and Avid Command products.

Janet Foley (jfoley)

Janet has been a product manager with Avid for over 10 years. Hired into the Storage Product Marketing group, Janet managed the first Avid Unity MediaNetwork release back in 1999. Shortly thereafter, the Broadcast group was re-formed and Janet took on the NewsCutter product line, as well as AirSPACE when Avid acquired Pluto Technology. She has managed iNEWS NRCS, Active Content Manager, LeaderPlus, Command, Control Air, and has had the wonderful opportunity to work with teams in Madison, Tewksbury and Edmonton.

Chris Bove (Pixel Monkey)

Chris Bové is an expert editor with more than 25k hours logged on various Avid Media Composers. A staff editor at one of PBS's highest rated stations, he helps create powerful, cinematic programs that are seen by millions of eyes throughout the US and into Canada. He is the Interplay Workgroup Manager for WNED-TV and is on the Steering Committee for the Avid Users Group in Buffalo, NY. In all possible off-hours, he edits award-winning independent films for theatrical and festival release and has worked on many projects as a Story Editor, a Script Editor, an editorial consultant and a technical advisor.

Gary Barrett (GaryBarrett)

Based in Los Angeles, Gary currently works as a freelance Dekocast/broadcast designer for Universal Sports, SiTV, and TV-G. Gary teaches Advanced After Effects, and Visual FX Compositing for Art Institutes of CA. Gary's background ranges from technical theatre to mobile delivery of NFL Mobile for GoTV. On the occasional day off, daughter, Oceana takes center stage.

Joann Galinis (Joann)

Joann started her career in media at Murdoch Magazines (now Reed Travel Group) as order admin and marketing coordinator for several of their travel publications over a 6 year period.  She moved to the broadcast industry, joining Grass Valley in 1993, where she was first introduced to Deko.  Joann has been with the Deko group through their acquisitions, for 10 years - as dealer liaison with Digital GraphiX, and as product management and marketing coordinator with Pinnacle Systems.  As a technical marketing specialist with Avid, she continues to support Deko as part of Avid’s On-Air Graphic solutions that includes DekoCast and Thunder products.  Joann enjoys cooking, gardening, movies and spoiling her nieces and nephew.

Bill has been with Turner Studios in Atlanta since 1999. He is a senior graphics operator, which includes building disks, handling operation and providing instruction on the FXDeko II.  Bill has operated and built the look of such live sports events as; NASCAR, Braves baseball, NBA on TNT Studio show, The Open Championship and NBA All-Star Saturday.  In 2001, Bill was responsible for setting up the look and feel/interface of the Goodwill Games Brisbane, Olympic style events with multiple sports and venues. Bill has been working with the FXDeko since 2000.

Teicia Joffe (Teicia)

With a fine arts background, Teicia started her career in desktop publishing just out of school. Her interests turned to graphics for video and she started working with Deko products in 1995 as a product specialist – demonstrating at sales events, training operators and supporting live broadcast events. More recently, Teicia comes to Avid through the Pinnacle acquisition and is the product marketing manager for Avid On-Air Graphics including Deko, DekoCast and Thunder products. Residing in Red Bank, New Jersey and married with a young son, Teicia’s enjoying photography, the beach and editing home videos of her family using Pinnacle Studio.

Kraig Kirkaldie (Kraig)

Kraig is a Senior Graphics Operator at Turner Studios in Atlanta, GA.  Some of his projects include The British Open, The NBA on TNT, The PGA Championship, The Grand Slam of Golf, TBS College Football, NBA All-Star Game, Braves Xtra Studio Show, and more.  Kraig produced Deko projects in 16x9 & 4x3 in NTSC and in PAL, and has converted projects between the different formats.  Also, he has set up Deko projects to interface with player databases & wrote macros which build graphics linked to those databases.  He has worked in news production for many years, always involved with graphics and some of his early machines were Laird & Quantafont.  Kraig has been working on FXDeko since 1999.

Mary McInerney (MaryMac422)

Mary started out as a typesetter/layout artist for her college newspaper back in the days of steam-powered word processors. She fell into video just in time to catch the first wave of character generators, before there were even drop shadows or kerning. She moved up to management as a trainer and writer of instructional technical manuals at Broadway Video in New York and later developed a similar position for Lifetime Television. It was at Lifetime that she saw, and demanded that the engineers buy, the first TypeDeko.
She has been a freelance Deko operator and trainer since 1998. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

James Jones ( James Jones )

James has been involved in television production since 1992. His main focus has been in government/industrial video. Starting out as camera operator, James edited whenever he had the chance. James found editing to be his calling, and firmly believes you have to be able to shoot in order to appreciate the editing aspect...and visa versa. James has worked on a variety of platforms (linear, hybrids and non-linear). He currently reside in San Antonio, TX .

Robert Davis (adman)

After developing his artistic abilities from an early age, Robert started his advertising career as a graphic artist while still in high school. After high school, he acquired degrees in Commercial Art and (later) Marketing & Computer Science while working in various advertising agency capacities -- including extensive broadcast work – for several award-winning agencies. Robert started his own agency in 1989. He added a Pro Tools recording studio in 1999 and an Avid video editing suite in 2002. In addition to extensive use of typesetting & graphics hardware/software throughout his career, he has been a Pro Tools and Xpress Pro user for years. He hosted a computer graphics user's group for several years and has taught computer graphics at an Atlanta area business school. He is also an accomplished writer, producer and creative director. His advertising agency has served several Fortune 500 clients and has received numerous international awards. His work has been exhibited at the prestigious Cannes Lions Advertising Festival.

Carl Amoscato (camoscato)

Carl Amoscato began editing with Avid products starting with Media Composer in 1996, while serving as a Captain in the US Air Force, and a Combat Camera producer/director. After leaving the military, Carl worked as a Media Composer editor for the US Army for a few years before succumbing to an urge to travel. Aboard Royal Caribbean's M/S Vision of the Seas, Carl edited on Media Composer and Xpress DV while sailing to Baja California, through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii, and past Alaska's Hubbard Glacier. Upon his return to land, Carl moved to New York City where worked for PR Newswire on Media Composer Adrenaline, Major League Baseball, and ESPN on Symphony Meridien. He is currently a freelance editor living in London.

Felipe Gonzalez  (felipousis)

Felipe is a Recording Engineer working in music and post production for over 15 years, and he was involved in video as part of a "Natural Evolution" on his words. Felipe also spent 8 years as sound, recording and post production teacher in colleges and universities in Chile like DuocUC and Uniacc, developing an unexpected skill, teaching, something he still holds dear and likes to do.  In 2003 he was hired by the Avid dealer in Chile and worked there until 2007 when he was hired by Avid directly to be part of the Latin America Field Services team, doing installs and support from México to Chile and everything in between.

Ruben Ruiz (rubruiz)

Ruben started his career at Tradeone Marketing, a New York based marketing services concern serving the Fortune 100 Technology community. He joined Avid's field marketing team in 2000 where his focus was to bridge Avid's end user/owner community through user and marketing events in the Northeast, Southeast and Latin America. In his current role as Avid's Southeast Regional Sales Manager he covers the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast U.S. and the Caribbean out of the southeast regional sales office in Orlando, FL where he continues to be heavily involved in marketing and user events within the territory.

Eduardo Solano (esolano)

Eduardo has been involved in television for 10 years in several roles. He started out as an Audio Engineer for TV adds and then moved on to work as a Avid News Editor at TV Azteca in Mexico. This role gave Eduardo the chance to be more involved in the support side. Eduardo then became the Broadcast support go to at the local Avid Resellers office. Eduardo has now been with Avid 7 years and has done almost everything including; Support, Training, demos, Installations, Workflow etc. and currently holds the position of Broadcast Account Manager for Latin America.

Carlos A. Sarda (RASPAGO)

Carlos is an insanely busy editor and works for one of the busiest emerging post houses in Miami ("Handle like eggs") and a few others. Carlos has worked (directly or indirectly) for almost everyone involved in the video and film business in Dade County, including the major networks and big independent production groups, mostly (but not exclusively) for the Spanish market. Carlos has been on the industry since the mid 80s, first as a linear and film editor, also as a broadcast engineer and service engineer. In the very early 90s he submerged deep into the computer world, eventually in DCC and NLE’s and never came back. Although Avid is (and always will be) his main editing weapon, he also uses FCP, Liquid/FAST, Premiere, Media100, Speed Razor, Combustion, Toxik, After Effects, Photoshop and others.

Tony Hamwey is the Director of Customer Services for Avid Technology. He has been involved in customer services, sales and operations positions for over 20 years, and with Avid Technology since the early 1990s. He has written computer how-to books and his background is computer software and programming.  Tony created the first Avid internet web site and the first Avid online user forum and community before there was a "dot com" by using America Online, CompuServe, and bulletin board software. He fully supports and values online communities and web sites. Tony is a customer service advocate: he himself contacting more than 50 companies per year about his own personal customer service experiences! Avid Customer Service is an active member of CompTia: an association of support professionals.

Joann started her career in media at Murdoch Magazines (now Reed Travel Group) as order admin and marketing coordinator for several of their travel publications over a 6 year period.  She moved to the broadcast industry, joining Grass Valley in 1993, where she was first introduced to Deko.  Joann has been with the Deko group through their acquisitions, for 10 years - as dealer liaison with Digital GraphiX, and as product management and marketing coordinator with Pinnacle Systems.  As a technical marketing specialist with Avid, she continues to support Deko as part of Avid’s On-Air Graphic solutions that includes DekoCast and Thunder products.  Joann enjoys cooking, gardening, movies and spoiling her nieces and nephew.

Jeremy Chevalier (jeyrem)

Jeremy is currently Customer Support Specialist in Paris, France. His background is originally video field as he started in an Audiovisual and Broadcast school. He has then been employed by Avid and has worked for us since 2003. His profile has now changed as Avid involves knowledge in the Computing/Networking field, and he's now even more passionate by this part of the job! As member of the WW-Customer Support team, Jeremy’s main concern is "helping & sharing" and as such he i involved in many tasks such as hotline, onsite troubleshooting, forums & distribution lists, writing technical documents etc. Jeremy enjoys cinema, music, travelling and of course France!
