Okay, lets try this again.
I was trying to find a quicker solution to transcoding a 20 day RED HELIUM shoot.
First attempt was RESOLVE 12.5 using AVID AAF. 92 clips took about 2.4 hours.
I ran into an issue with the MXFs in AVID due to a bug in RESOLVE using the AUDIO SYNC option.
So I went and did the same 92 clip transcode in AVID.
Well that was taking way too long and gave up after 4 hours and only 6 clips to show for.
I did some digging around and noticed that the transcode was correct but the sizing was the same.
From RESOLVE I chose 1080p HD.
I thought AVID transcode would take the PROJECT SETTINGS as file size?
I am using MC 8.9.3. If anyone has any tips on this please send.
Another issue is when using AUDIO SYNC in AVID, some of the clips would be shorter in time length.
This is with the original LINKED RED files. Same issues with the RESOLVE export.
Its all moot anyways since those shortened files didn't SYNC correctly.
I really would have liked to do the AUDIO SYNC in RESOLVE then export to AVID AAF.
I also found a bug from RESOLVE. If you dont select the AUDIO option in AVID AAF & MXF, the AAF file does not export a timeline. Your stuck with a folder full of MXFs.
All these issues were non existent in the past using AVID MC 8.4 and RESOLVE 12.5.
But that was with RED MX and REDONE files.
It looks like FrameFlex first then transcode is the only way.
This is why I like Resolve for Avid AAF export :P
