Let me give you all a LONG winded example and explain what occurs with a dongle based license and an upgrade & support plan renewal.
It’s all about your support date.
So say you had an upgrade & support plan valid from Jan 1, 2015 to Dec 31,2015.
You then download a dongle updater on or around November 11, 2015 and update your dongle to use say v8.4.2.
Then v8.4.3 comes out 12/1/2015 . The upgrade & support dates on your dongle are Jan 1, 2015 – Dec 31, 2015. That means you can run v8.4.3 without having to do anything – it looks at the BOD (born on date) of v8.4.3 to see that it falls in between your support dates, and lets it run.
Then you renew the upgrade & support plan (Jan 1 2016 to Dec 31 2016) but you don’t update the dongle.
The dongle still thinks your upgrade & support plan is Jan 1 2015 - Dec 31 2015.
That’s ok as long as you are running a version of software that was released in between those dates (12/1/15 - 1/31/15) which v8.4.3 and v8.4.4 were.
However........ If you want to run something that was released in say January 2016 or any date in 2016, you need to updateyour dongle so it had the updated support dates.
Think about when your original upgrade & support plan was valid. Then look at what was releaed during that time period. You can do that easliy on the DL center as we list the released dates. If you plan expired prior to say 8.4.4 which was launched 12/8 and you renewed your plan recently, you may have to update your dongle if you havent already.
Got it?

Hi Marianna!
Everything is ABSOLUTELY clear exept one thing - if I update my dongle in December 2015 for the new MC version, is it still possible to work with OLDER versions of MC? (I don't like the new versions of the MC, but I do not want to resign from the CURRENT license. Maybe NEXT version of MC will convice me
Best!
