No support ;-((((((
Dear Marianna,
What is the recommended third party app to get the MVC AVCHD codec into Avid?
SincerelyMark Pirtle
No third party . I think it must be integrated in MC6 as soon as possible.
Sony prof has a tool ( coming with the prof version of TD10) to split in 2 Streams but not with the TD10
There are several decoders for the MVC streams.
Now if they are doing fine it's another thing.
It's not weird that only Sony supports it right as they produce the camera.
Avid can't take the change to add support for something that is too new IMHO.

In an ideal world when a camera manufacturer invents a new codec and/or wrapper they will supply developers that will need to use it the necessary support software in advance of releasing it to the general market. In practice nowadays this seldom happens.
The result is that a company like Avid is left to first assess market penetration of the new wrapper/codec. If it doesn't look worthwhile they won't commit the often significant development dollars needed to support the new product. If it does they may, but this process inevitably means delays. The delays may or may not be significant depending on how radical a change is involved.
Workarounds like AMA that throw the support back into the hands of the original developer can help. But even those are not always the best solution. When you have a company like Sony that also has a competing product it's not surprising that there can be a considerable lag before companies like Avid can support something like MVC even through the AMA mechanism.
Contact Sony. Ask them when you're likely to see an AMA handler for MVC. Enough people doing this will help.
Dear Mariana,
I just got an email or some notification about a Workflow guide in the Avid Knowlege Base for 3d workflow.
However the PDF reports that it is damaged. Other PDF's load and open, so I must assume that my PDF reader is ok.
Mark,
Was there a URL to access this PDF and if so can you email me....

This is a link to the knowlege base paper on 3d.
I got it opened and printed on another computer.
Thanks for your help.
ps I have been able to import AVCHD from my new Sony HDR-TD10. It is however 2d.
I am glad that this part works.
I would like to be able to learn a 3d workflow and use Avid to be the system to back up and archive media from my camera.
Sincerely
Mark Pirtle
we need a solution - if we only have the td 10 and td20 - not the prof. modell with the softwaresplitter

Thanks Marianna,
i know this link but i found nothing with real specification from Importformats
Short Question:
Can MC7 now input Sony TD10 MVC files in any wayto work with the nice MC s3D features?
