Hi all,
I have upgraded a client system that was working fine using WinXP SP3 and MediaNetwork 5.1.3 to Win7 SP1 and MediaNetwork 5.3. The client is now intermittently getting a BSOD caused by the AvidFS.SYS driver. Here are the system specs:
HP xw8600 dual Xeon X5450 3.0GHz processors
v1.36 BIOS
12GB Memory
NVidia Quadro FX 3700 with driver v190.38
ATTO Celerity FC-41ES Fibre with firmware v2.50 and driver v2.66.2, slot 6
Windows 7 64-bit SP1
MediaNetwork 5.3
Media Composer Nitris DX v5.5.2
Unity 64TB, v5.1.3, Windows Server 2003 SP2
The HP system can be sitting idle, with a few Unity workspaces mapped, Media Composer may or may not be running, and it will intermittently crash with a BSOD FILE_SYSTEM 0x00000022 error caused by the AvidFS.SYS driver. It always happens at the same address in the driver. It can be as infrequent as a few days between failures to as frequent as a few hours.
I swapped the HP system with another one with the same specs and a fresh install of all software. It exhibits the same behavior. The new system did use the same fibre and HBA cards from the initial failing system because I didn't have any spare ones to try.
I have another system, a Dell Precision T3500 with the same configuration that doesn't have a problem.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Hi... unplug the fibre from client, install ATTO 3.14 software, flash the card with a different version of firmware and install a different driver. Re-boot client. then flash the card with the correct v2.50 firmware and load the correct v2.66 driver. re-boot client again, then re-install MediaNet 5.3 fibre client only, then connect fibre.
(get the firmware v2.50 from MediaNet Kit 5.1.3)
Did you do a total format of the hard drive when you upgraded?
PTP preferred and none coalense etc etc

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it a try as soon as I get access to that system again. Most likely that will be at the next blue screen.

Do you have MacDrive or MacOpener installed?
Also try disabling your anti-virus.

Dom,
You were right! Norton Internet Security 2011 is causing the problem. My previous experience with this program is that it causes slow downs in Media Composer 5.x. We have never seen the slow down problem with Media Composer 4.x.
Our editors were instructed to disable Norton while working in Media Composer 5.x and everything had been working great, that is until I upgraded an HP XW8600 system to Windows 7, Media Composer 5.5.2 and MediaNetwork 5.3. That combination will blue screen just sitting idle!
We'll have to disable Norton full time on these systems. We seriously need to figure out a way to get these systems off of the internet permanently.
Thanks for everyone's help!
