Media Composer Family

Learn how to edit film, video, and file-based footage faster and in more ways than any other editing system.

ARRI ALEXA and DNxHD File Support

ARRI's line of ALEXA cameras has become popular among filmmakers, as the cameras can digitally capture the cinematic look of film. And now these cameras are able to record to high-quality, SMPTE-standard Avid DNxHD format, so you can edit the footage natively in Media Composer and Symphony—without transcoding or importing.

In this video, ARRI's JD Vandenberghe demonstrates what you need to make your ALEXA camera DNxHD-capable, provides an overview of the DNxHD MXF file format, and shows ways to use it with Avid video editing systems.

About Matt Feury

As Senior Manager for Avid's Post Solutions Marketing, it's my job to lead the marketing strategy of Avid’s video editing systems and their related storage and infrastructure solutions. A big part of my job, and certainly my favorite, is the creation of content that educates and inspires existing and potential customers. A prime example of this is our podcast (The Rough Cut). It's given me the opportunity to connect future filmmakers with industry pro's such as Morgan Spurlock, Kevin Smith, Doug Liman and Ben Affleck. Since joining Avid in 1994 I've had the good fortune to meet and collaborate with customers from all over the world, in every kind of project. And I'm deeply grateful to all of them for letting me be a part of their journey.
