The new Squeeze suite will support a host of new codec’s and will be threaded to use up to eight processor cores to encode eight videos simultaneously. There are still openings for the beta program. If you are interested you can enroll by sending an email to newbeta@sorensonmedia.com.

It seems like Avid folks are making surprise appearances at several user groups. Three Avid representative showed up to give another sneak peek into what Avid has cooking. The three were lead by a Mr. Ruben Ruiz, Channel and Strategic Sales Manager: Southeast U.S. and the Caribbean. Rueben spoke to the group about the state and health of Avid which is financially sound thanks largely to their broadcast and enterprise class post solutions. However he also admitted that Avid dropped the ball on the independent, boutique and small operator front. He then went on to describe how Avid is going to address it. The user community is starting to feel that Avid is out there more and more communicating with their customers. It isn’t always fun since there much needed venting along with criticism. But Avid realizes the importance of being accessible and let the community know that they are listening.
