120+ digital media enthusiasts braved the cold to attend Joe Beirne’s dynamic presentation at the North Cabana Room in NYC’s trendy Maritime Hotel.
Hosted in association with Avid Gold Premier Reseller, Video Corporation of America (VCA), Beirne guided the audience through the early days of editing in the cutting room up to the technological advances of today, particularly the advances of Avid’s DNxHD codec. He demonstrated how PostWorks has benefited from using DNxHD in their facilities, allowing them to edit at the highest quality resolution while taking advantage of the decreasing price of shared storage that Avid Unity provides.
Joe Beirne is the VP of Technology at PostWorks, one of the largest and most successful post-production houses in NYC. PostWorks does editorial and finishing work for 100’s of independent films and dozens of major TV shows, including 30 Rock and The Wire.
After Beirne’s presentation, Avid Application Editor Kevin Camoosa gave a demo of Avid Unity with special attention to DNxHD resolutions, showing both their quality and bandwidth.
The audience was urged to have a cocktail, munch on some food, network, and get up close and personal with Avid!
