Avid Wins Awards for Audio and Live Sound at the 2013 NAMM Show

It goes without saying that the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show in Anaheim, Calif., is an exciting event for audio professionals. This year, it was an exceptional show for Avid. In addition to sharing some of our newest product offerings, recent collaborations and an official Sibelius training and certification program, Avid was honored with several prestigious awards.

We won two Technical Excellence and Creativity (TEC) awards, which are voted upon by members of various professional organizations and audio industry websites, to recognize outstanding achievement in professional audio technology and production. We were thrilled to take home awards for both Avid Pro Tools 10 and VENUE SC48 Remote.

Avid Pro Tools also won:

· ProSoundWeb & Live Sound International Readers' Choice Awards 2013

· Pro Audio Review PAR Excellence '12 - Digital Audio Workstations

· Sound on Sound Magazine, Best DAW Software

And, we are proud to have been recognized by the Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) for Outstanding Contribution to Technology in Music Education.

We announced new products (Pro Series plug-ins), partnerships, and programs (get Sibelius-certified).

We also teamed up with Abbey Road for an exciting song contest, and launched a new Sibelius Feedback Community on IdeaScale.

Pensado's Place taped an episode in our booth with special guest, multi-Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Greg Wells (Adele, Katy Perry, OneRepublic), who we also interviewed.

Audio designer Dave Hill and folks from Zynaptiq, FXpansion, and McDSP dropped by to chat.

Composer/arranger/musician Jay Terrien (Moby, Rancid, Rihanna) talked with us about his latest project with Alien Ant Farm.

Producer/engineer Joseph “Klypso” Mourad (Dr. Dre, Ne-Yo, 50 Cent) stopped by to talk music and more.

Today, Michael Fitzpatrick (lead singer of Fitz and The Tantrums) will be dropping by, along with more of our audio development partners. Then it’s Imagine party time!

Avid and Abbey Road Studios Team Up to Uncover the Music Industry’s Hidden Talent

Santana wrote about it (“I’m wiiiining!) and so did Nicki Minaj (“I came to win…”). What will it sound like when it happens to you?

For the last 25 years, Abbey Road Studios has contributed award-winning products to the music industry. In celebration of this milestone, today at NAMM, Avid and Abbey Road Studios announced the launch of a global talent competition. Aspiring artists, musicians and producers will have their songs heard, mixed and mastered by the industry’s top producers and engineers.

Starting today through March 13, musicians around the world will be able to upload one original song of their choice to be judged by music industry veterans and fans online during the week-long voting period that ends March 21. Industry judges include Grammy-winning producer, mixer and songwriter Greg Wells (Adele, Katy Perry); musician, producer and A&R representative John Feldmann (Goldfinger, Good Charlotte); and Grammy-winning producer Tricky Stewart (Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Rihanna).

The judges will choose their three favorite songs, and the winning artists will have their single mixed and mastered by Abbey Road’s Online Mixing & Mastering Services, and will receive a full Pro Tools|HD Native recording system from Avid. The winner of the fans choice award will receive an Avid Mbox® audio interface with Pro Tools 10 software.

“The hardest thing for an aspiring musician is to get their songs heard by the right people,” said Greg Wells, competition judge and multiple Grammy-nominated producer, mixer and songwriter. “This competition is the perfect way for artists to get their music out there and I’m really looking forward to listening to an eclectic mix of songs.”

Avid and Abbey Road Studios have long shared a passion for the creation of music, and are excited to team up to give aspiring musicians the chance to reach a global audience and showcase their work to three of the most respected figures in the industry.
