With the American Cinema Editors (ACE) Eddie Awards taking place today, and the Academy Awards on the 24th, we’re in the thick of Awards season. You may not already know that all of the Oscar nominees for best picture, editing, sound mixing, sound editing, and score used one or more Avid solutions. And, all of the ACE Best Edited Feature Film nominees used Avid Media Composer.

For many of the nominated film editors, the chance to take home both an Eddie and Oscar is very possible. As Variety recently pointed out, there is growing overlap of nominees across the ACE society and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A number of editors have won both awards over the past decade, including Avid customers Bob Murawski and Chris Innis (“The Hurt Locker”) in 2009.
“This year, picks by ACE members and AMPAS voters largely overlapped again,” according to the Variety article.
We offer our heartfelt congratulations to all of our nominated editors. We’ll be perched on the edge of our seats with all of you, as we wait for that name to be announced from the stage. To read the complete Variety article, go to: ACE Eddie noms show revealing splits from Oscars.
