Avid and the John Lennon Education Tour Bus Announce Partnership at 2011 NAMM Show

This year Avid and the John Lennon Tour Bus are taking things to the next level, and we are proud to announce at this years 2011 NAMM show that Avid has outfitted the Lennon Bus with our latest audio and video offerings, including Media Composer 5, Pro Tools 9, and the new Pro Tools HD Series converters.

Avid and the Lennon Bus share the belief that the next generation of filmmakers, producers, engineers, and musicians need access to professional tools in order to develop the skills they’ll need to enter the professional marketplace, while tapping the highest potential of their creativity. And with the new open architecture and lower cost of Pro Tools 9 and Media Composer 5 and Sibelius (only $295 for students with four free years of upgrades!), there is no better time for a student to dive in and start learning.

“The Lennon Bus provides an amazing opportunity to help students realize their dreams, while introducing them to the same tools professionals use to create the most successful music, video and film projects in the world.” said Avid’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Ron Greenberg.  Over the years, many top recording artists have used the state of the art studios to mentor students and record their own material.  In fact, many of the tracks on the current Black Eyed Peas album, The Beginning were recorded on the Bus using Pro Tools. “We want to continue to teach and encourage the next generation of talent to create entertaining music, film and video content that inspires and entertains millions.  We look forward to doing that in our deeper partnership with the Lennon Bus.”

We’re kicking off the partnership at the 2011 NAMM show with a celebration that will include a performance by Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield and appearances by Governor Mike Huckabee and former New York Yankee Bernie Williams. Attendees will get to tour the bus and see first-hand the state-of-the-art audio and video production suites, built around Avid‘s solutions, that will be touring the country in 2011.

The concept for the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus began as an offshoot of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, which is dedicated to providing opportunities for both professional and amateur songwriters around the world. The Bus travels across the U.S. and Canada year-round, providing free tours and workshops at schools, retailers, festivals, on tours with headlining artists, and at major industry conferences.

Stay tuned to the Buzz blog for news about the Lennon Bus’ appearances around the country, and for more exciting news about Avid’s commitment to students and educators in the next few days.
