Apple uses ColorSync to allow video levels (16-235) in a QuickTime movie to look OK on a computer monitor (0-255) with ProRes. No so for DNxHD. IF you're going to use that QuickTime for importing into Avid, leave the import settings at 601/709 and it shoulld look OK when output through a IO box to a television monitor. Would you mind providing just a tiny bit more info about how to do either of those things? I have googled around, and understand both concepts, but not how to apply them here. Thanks!

So I just installed the codec in one of my machines, when I transcode a quicktime file to DNxHD quicktime (720/23.98, DNxHD 90) via QuickTime Pro, I get washed out blackes. This is despite setting the levels option to 709 in Quicktime Pro. I also tried RGB levels option, but exact same result. Are there any other settings that I should be worried about...

Match Frame! Or enable A1 or A2 timecode in the Compose/Record window, and see the timecode of the frame you're looking for.
